Road Trains

53.5 metres long, travelling at 85-100km/h, road trains are used throughout the north. Overtaking is quite challenging when towing… wind buffeting and passing such a long vehicle. When a road train passes from the opposite direction, the wind buffeting is even greater.

Katherine Gorge NT

Nitmiluk National Park, just 30 kilometres north-east of Katherine, covers a vast area, including 13 impressive gorges carved from the ancient sandstone country which stretch for as far as the eye can see. Via a boat tour we visited 2 or these gorges.

Farewell W.A.

After a few days short of 5 months we have departed W.A. The NT/W.A. border crossing was straight forward but did include completing docs and a police check.

Don’t think we will travel at anything close to the NT speed limit towing the caravan.

Colours of the Kimberley

Most photos can’t do justice to the actual view (Maggie’s Valley). This panoramic photo is no exception… but it does I think provide a reasonable representation (tap/click on the photo to view an enlargement. The full size panorama image, not seen here, is a composite of 18 RAW photos stitched together using Lightroom & Photoshop… it will be a print contender for placement on a wall at home).

Five Rivers Lookout

From the Five Rivers Lookout on the top of the Bastion Range at Wyndham, you can see where five Kimberley rivers meet and flow into the ocean… the Ord, Forest, King, Durack and Pentecost Rivers.

Wyndham

A 100km drive north to Wyndham for the day… our most northerly location visited in W.A.
