Apsley Falls is located in Oxley Wild Rivers National Park, just west of Walcha. There are walks around the rim of the gorge with viewing platforms to marvel at the extraordinary waterfall, gushing 65 metres at the upper falls and 58 metres at the lower falls.

We had a fire each afternoon the two nights we stayed and were joined by blue wrens, magpies, and rosellas.

The rim walk was about 4km and included a suspension bridge over the Apsley River. The gorge walls are mostly slate and erosion over time causes the rock to break off into the gorge below, making it a little wider each time.
